Volkswagen Phaeton – the flagship model of Volkswagen in India has been launched. The automaker has entered the high-end luxury segment in India after launching this luxury sedan in India at the 2010 Auto Expo held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.An ideal luxury car, Volkswagen Phaeton is targeted at those luxury car lovers who love elegant looks over flashy ones.The new Phaeton also gets all-wheel drive, adjustable air suspension, leather trim, 18-way adjustable electric seats, a laminated finish to all glass areas and a total of eight airbags. This latest launch from Volkswagen is priced at Rs. 75 lakhs, ex-showroom, New Delhi.Volkswagen has already imported 10 units of Phaeton for the Indian market. Volkswagen Phaeton will be available in 40 cities of India very soon. For now, the luxury car is available in all the metro cities of the nation.The Volkswagen Phaeton is completely a hand crafted at the Volkswagen 'Glass Factory' located at Dresden. In Dresden, the car lovers and enthusiasts can watch the car building process at the 'Glass Factory'. The automaker also allows some customers to be a part of the car building process. Volkswagen India says that it will soon allow similar options for its Indian customers.The Phaeton’s interiors have also been updated and now include a new multimedia display system, Google Maps on the RNS810 satellite navigation system and one of the most advanced airconditioning systems in the world.


Engine
The flagship model of Volkswagen has a 3.6 litre V6 FSI petrol engine. Volkswagen Phaeton's
engine generates 280HP @ 6250rpm of power and 370Nm @ 3500rpm of torque. This car is paired with a 6-speed Tiptronic gearbox.
